Seed To Sky
by Pamela Freeman & Liz Anelli

PICTURE BOOKS

______________

In the oldest rainforest on Earth, on the oldest continent, a seed falls to the ground. Over hundreds of years, the seed will grow into a sapling reaching for the sunlight, to become a tree towering above the rainforest canopy.
Generations of insects, butterflies, bird, lizards, snakes and an abundance of native wildlife will bear witness to the magnificent Bull Kauri pine...

Our third collaboration, this non-fiction Nature Storybook takes readers to the Daintree Rainforest in far North Queensland. Defying rain, insects and more sketchbook soaking rain this award-winning author/illustrator team delight in wriggly insects, scary cassowary, beautiful butterflies and the tallest of tall trees.

Illustrating a picture book has lots of different stages. Actual in-situ research has to be the best fun, even if I do get bitten by some horrible insects. After hours and weeks of careful scientific discovery (also on-line, by email, at Botancial Gardens and museums) I have tons of drawings and notes to compile into page spread designs. Then I can play with colour, form, perspective and texture, gradually cooking up all the elements until they are ready to be combined on my computer screen.
